Put my 6.5 Grendel bolt on a bolt carrier assembly

I picked me up a Titanium Nitride Coated bolt carrier for my 6.5 grendel, the carrier is a standard 5.56 because my barrel came with the 6.5 grendel bolt.

The bolt that came with my barrel is not coated but that is all good, here it is.  You can see the wall of the 5.56 bolt is thicker than the 6.5 grenedel.

To swap bolts on the carrier I first remove the firing pin retaining clip, just use some needle nose pliers for this.

Removed the firing pin.

Rotate and remove the cam pin.

With the cam pin out of the way the bolt can now be removed.

Now clean all parts with cloth and q-tips, etc.  As you assemble the bolt/carrier be sure to use a good gun oil.  Start with the 6.5 grendel bolt.

To install the Cam Pin you must align the proper end of the hole for it in the bolt with the hole for it in the carrier, the Cam pin will only go in one side of the bolt.  Once installed you will rotate the cam pin to align the hole in it for the firing pin to slide through.

Install firing pin.  Then install firing pin retaining pin.

Finished installed 6.5 grendel bolt in carrier.

I can’t wait to go try it out!
